ArpaFIL honors architect Carme Pinós with the Lifetime Achievement Award, marking the first time a woman has received this accolade.
As part of the 31st International Book Fair (FIL) in Guadalajara, Mexico, Catalan architect Carme Pinós was honored with the 2017 ArpaFIL Award for her contribution to the artistic enhancement of Cultural Heritage and for having built a career that stands out for her leadership and the creation of architectural works that seek social coexistence
On the afternoon of Friday, December 1, 2017, with the presence of the General Rector of the University of Guadalajara, Tonatiuh Bravo Padilla, she was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the event, bestowed by FIL President, Raúl Padilla López.
Raúl recognized the legacy of this internationally renowned architect by mentioning:
“Carme Pinós, along with her team, has succeeded in constructing projects and works that blend life with art, embracing the honesty of discovering meaning and significance. One notable creation is the Torre Cube I in Puerta de Hierro, an extraordinary example of functional modern architecture that pioneers vertical buildings in this city”.
Padilla López concluded by noting that the Lifetime Achievement Award, given since 1995 by ArpaFIL to those who contribute to innovation in architecture, is awarded to a woman for the first time.
