La Llauna School

Our decisions were based on the project for the accesses and the space was built from there. There was no project time. This made it special. The photographs were the drawings, which allowed us to reencounter these decisions without mediation.

The building is transparent on the inside, thanks to the movements of the entrance door. In this way, the ground floor functions as a porch with the dimensions the street lacks. The true foyer, a meeting space in between classes, is on the first floor, and is a balcony over the entrance.

Eliminating stretches of slab allows a maximum dimension in height, as well as the maximum depth in the floors. These dimensions are the best quality of this factory.

Taking light into the building was difficult, so the interior enclosures were built with fragmented glass that, aside from guaranteeing transparency between spaces, collects light and multiplies its reflections. Light appears when replacing the pitched tile roof with a single roof of clear glass. The resulting space has outdoor, street-like qualities, with light and shade
