Carme Pinós is awarded the ARVHA Prize in the International Award category for her work in Spain and Mexico.
ARVHA, the Association for Research on the City and Habitat, launched the fifth edition of the Prize for Women Architects in 2017 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, Secretariat for Women’s Rights, and the National Council of the Architects’ Association. The event took place in Paris, specifically at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal.
More than 400 people attended the ceremony on December 11, 2017. The goal of this award is to highlight the works and careers of women architects so that young female architects can learn from existing role models and promote gender parity in a male-dominated profession.
The ceremony was hosted by Eva Alvarez, President of the 2017 jury, a Spanish architect, and Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València. The International Award was presented by Muriel Mayette-Holtz, who awarded the prize to the outstanding architect Carme Pinós for her work in Spain and Mexico, with a special mention to Carin Smuts for her commitment to the people of South Africa.
