Igualada Cemetery Park

This is a calligraphic project: there is a poetic drive behind every trace, we drew it telling ourselves a thousand stories.
One of them, keeping the sense of place in our thoughts, brought to mind the idea of ‘dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return’. Hence the decision to return the bodies of the deceased to earth, to nature: though the brief asked us to place them in concrete niches, we buried the niches. To this end, a downward path goes deep into terrain, further emphasizing our place as a place that takes us to an ending.
The whole project had to make reference to the flow, the flow of life, silent and paused. We wanted to be nature, we wanted the cemetery to be a place where the visitors could reencounter what they really are: nature with the capacity to feel poems.
