Carme Pinós: “I have never sold out to speculation, architecture is a service to society.”
According to the edition:
Carme Pinós, recipient of the National Architecture Prize, grounds her work on three pillars: Surprise, Emotion, and Generosity. AD engages in a conversation with her in her Barcelona studio
In the past year, architect Carme Pinós (Barcelona, 1954) has grappled with a demanding schedule of commitments. The reason? Work and recognition. In just a few months, she has garnered accolades such as the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize, the Gold Medal for Architecture from the Higher Council of the Spanish Architects’ Associations, and the National Architecture Prize. “I am very grateful because awards give you visibility and make people trust you (and without that, you can’t do anything). We have created a society based entirely on distrust, but without trust, there is no creativity”, she confesses.
