Carme Pinós is honored with the National Architecture Award 2021 for her outstanding professional career.
The jury of the National Architecture Award 2021, sponsored by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda, has bestowed this distinction upon architect Carme Pinós. This award stands as the highest recognition in Spain within the field of architecture
Carme Pinós stands out for the solidity of her career, characterized by both prolific and excellent contributions, always infused with great creative power. This creative process permeates her entire architectural body of work, culminating in the exceptional execution of each project.
The event took place at the Lonja de Palma, where Minister Raquel Sánchez described Carmen Pinós as “A reference in Spanish architecture, whose name resonates in the best schools worldwide, and whose models are showcased in the most significant international museums”. She also emphasized Carmen Pinós’s role in shaping the new generations of architects, who have much to learn “from Pinós’s nonconformity, precision, and artistry”. Pinós is recognized as a determined individual who forged her destiny through effort and dedication.
Her bold approach and ongoing research have earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the French International Prize for Women Architects 2017-ARVHA and the 2017 ArpaFIL Award at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (Mexico).
She has also been honored with the Richard J. Neutra Medal for Professional Excellence presented by the California Polytechnic University in Pomona (United States) and the Creu de Sant Jordi by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Additionally, she has been honored with the National Architecture and Public Space Award by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the First Prize at the IX Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial, the ArqCatMón Award from the Official College of Architects of Catalonia, the National Architecture Award from the Spanish Architects Council, the Ciutat de Barcelona Award, and the FAD Architecture Award for Newly Constructed Public-Use Buildings.
