Adidas Sports Center
Nuremberg, Germany
We aim to create a sports center where interior and exterior spaces complement each other and permit achieving a real relationship between physical activity and natural environment.
The building is made up of volumes that shift to create different exterior areas for outdoor activities, and at the same time enable a construction process in phases.
We solve the structure with large diagonal girders marking the itineraries that connect the different volumes. Leaving the orthogonal character behind results in interior spaces with a freer geometry. The light grooves, which coincide with the large girders, accompany us along the circulation paths.
On the outside, the different heights of the trusses, corresponding to the varying spans that result from covering the spaces in diagonal, give the volumes a changing and dynamic rhythm.
When illuminated at night, the light grooves of the hall and the spa area – three sloping lines with a decreasing length – remind us of the Adidas logo.
