La Gardunya Square
The project is the consequence of a meticulous and careful site observation.
Rather than shaping the square as the frontality of the two facades, the intervention embodies the vibrancy of its urban settings at all scales.
The residential building offers small outdoor gathering spaces that integrate themselves with the existing ones, while the school building stands confidently showing its uniqueness and dynamism towards the square.
The treatment of the square emphasizes this idea. The area closest to the residential building was populated by trees, whereas the space in front of the school was left clear to underscore the feeling of a hardscape square. A row of bigger trees, outside the boundaries of the parking area, softens the view of the old hospital’s lateral façade.
