Leisure Center
Caldas de Reis (Pontevedra), Spain
The brief called for the landscape design of a territory that will undergo significant changes in its natural identity because of the construction of a reservoir.
The project consists of two sections: adaptation actions in the natural environment and the creation of breakout areas.
The intervention is characterized by granite walls that cross each other and form terraces. These walls serve as guides for the metallic roofs and at the same time create protected precincts. These roofs shelter small timber buildings containing dressing rooms and a social center. Both, situated at slightly elevated levels, become viewing platforms in the sports areas.
A mark on the pavement connects the sports tracks with the terraces in these buildings and flows towards the west side of the plot where, already in the reservoir area, it bends to create basins.
