Office Building in Igualada
Igualada (Barcelona), Spain
The project was part of an urban complex occupied mostly by residential blocks, where our building was the only one containing commercial programs and services. The plot was located at the end of this complex, so it was the first thing one would see upon entering Igualada.
For all of this we decided to give the building a certain singularity, and chose to break up the initial volume.
The building has an exposed structure of concrete composed of two screens that form an angle, cut out with an aesthetic gesture, and that become the main façade. These screens, along with another two of the same character located at the rear, support two boxes with a double skin of silkscreen-printed glass, protecting the offices from sunlight. These two glass prisms are suspended and beneath them is the large commercial premise where our building meets the ground.
