Residential Tower in Vallarta Avenue
Guadalajara, Mexico
The project stems from the desire to create a residential building for the city of Guadalajara, known for its excellent climate and where people are accustomed to living in single-family homes surrounded by gardens. That’s why the apartments are designed around a spacious terrace, open to views, intending to be the heart of the dwelling as a substitute for a garden.
Furthermore, since the program called for loft-type residences, the L-shaped typology is chosen without any columns, concentrating all the services in the back part. In case of wanting to transform it into a traditional home, it would be easily convertible, with one wing for bedrooms and the other for common areas.
The area that can be considered the potential living room has a facade facing the terrace, but one corner opens up to other views. Similarly, the tip of the other wing faces another direction, preventing all potential rooms from facing the terrace, which could make it feel somewhat overwhelming.
To avoid overcrowding and lighten the perception of the high density required, we have chosen to create two towers at different heights. For the same reason, and to offer different types of residences, the duplex typology is chosen with higher and more open terraces on two sides, filling the building with openings and greenery. These duplexes crown the towers, and in the case of the tallest tower, they serve as the rental rooms required by the program.
We believe this is a good proposal as an alternative to developments that often turn into ghettos and do not promote city life.
