Territorial Delegation of the Government of the Generalitat in Central Catalonia
Manresa (Barcelona), Spain
Upon discovering that one of the facades of the baroque palace was not original, the opportunity arises to open the interior space of the block—which our project transforms into a garden—towards the cathedral, creating a public space that flows towards its entrance.
The project is simply structured around this central garden, visible from the entrance, thus recovering the typology with a courtyard of the baroque palace that the former courthouse building had before the modifications it underwent over time.
We preserve the facade of the Red Cross building that borders the old part of the city. In contrast, the new construction faces the Sant Ignasi street, presenting itself as a powerful volume that engages in a dialogue with the ancient city walls.
